First, all ‘documents’ in general are “less preferred” by screen readers and a standardized static web page is always the most compliant option. That said, we understand the place Google docs has in all organizations. The ease of creation, sharing, and organizing make it an invaluable tool. Campus Suite also has a widget that will instantly pull a folder of documents out to your web page. We lean towards the Google document because of this. However, if a comparable PDF were authored in the same fashion, keeping the layout simple, minding Heading semantics, adding ALT text to embedded images, either should be fine. The biggest challenge facing schools right now is the shear number of existing PDF’s that need to be evaluated and fixed, or just trashed, and recreated in a more compliant manner.
If we decided we need to have something be a document and not a web page, what is the more preferred format, PDF or Google doc?
